A person reported that a friendly dog was making school staff members nervous because of its size. An animal control officer removed the 8-year-old brindle-colored male German shepherd. The dog's owner took it home that day.
Stray dogs tied to a fence: 17100 block, Queen Anne Bridge Rd., Bowie, Oct. 13. A woman found two dogs tied to her fence when she returned home. The person who tied them there apparently left dog food and a note. An animal control officer removed the 2-year-old white female Maltese poodle mix and the 1-year-old tan spayed Chihuahua. They were not claimed by their owner. The Maltese was taken to a rescue group. Adoption applications were pending for the Chihuahua.
Snake in kitchen: 8000 block, Travis Lane, College Park, Oct. 13. A man reported that he saw a snake behind a cabinet in his kitchen. An animal control officer removed the healthy snake from a glue trap and returned it to the wild.

Flopping bird rescued: 6800 block, Kenilworth Ave., Riverdale, Oct. 14. A man approached a bird, thinking it would fly away. The bird did not appear to be injured but could only flop around on the ground. An animal control officer removed the brown bird and took it to a wildlife rehabilitator for treatment.
Stray dog in school classroom: 3500 block, Regency Pkwy., District Heights, Oct. 15. A person at a school reported that a dog was seen in a classroom. Some who tried were unable to confine the dog in a room. An animal control officer removed the 9-year-old gray spayed Keeshond. The owner claimed the dog Oct. 19.

Volunteers Needed
The SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George 's County, an all-volunteer organization, needs volunteers 18 and older to assist with a variety of tasks.
